Threats are an age-old tool to discomfort an adversary. One never knows if a threat is real or bogus. The uncertainty makes one restless and worried. Ahmadis often receive threats, and some of these have actually materialized into murders. Threats are often reported by the receivers to authorities who rarely follow them up with investigation or action. Addressees of threats are often deeply affected by them; they have to take precautionary measures in addition to living with fear and uncertainty of their threatened situations.
